Work in Canada: Spousal Open Work Permit
Support your partner’s dreams—and your own! If your spouse or common-law partner is an international student or worker in Canada, you may be eligible for a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP) to build your own Canadian work experience and financial stability.
What is a Spousal Open Work Permit?
A Spousal Open Work Permit lets spouses or common-law partners of international students or skilled workers in Canada work for any employer, in almost any occupation, while living in Canada. This permit does not require a job offer in advance, and is typically valid for the same duration as your partner’s study or work permit.
